Karel Avni Doshi has over 20 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, with exposure across corporate banking, commercial banking, investment banking and Islamic finance in Malaysia. She previously served as Managing Director and Head of Commercial Banking at HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, where she led the Commercial Banking franchise with full profit and loss responsibility across conventional and Islamic banking operations. In this capacity, she oversaw multiple business segments and product lines, and managed teams across various regions nationwide.

During her tenure with HSBC, she also held senior leadership roles including Managing Director, Country Head of Corporate Banking; Asia Pacific Head of Business Financial Crime Risk; and Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Banking. Her responsibilities covered strategic business management, portfolio and risk oversight, regulatory and compliance matters, operational enhancement and the development of sustainable finance and ESG initiatives. Prior to HSBC, she was with United Overseas Bank, Affin Investment Bank Berhad and AmBank Berhad, where she was involved in corporate banking and debt capital markets activities.

In addition to her executive career, she is actively involved in diversity and inclusion initiatives. She served as Co-Chair of HSBC Malaysia's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and HSBC Asia Pacific Balance Employee Relations Group. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Junior Achievement Malaysia and a key member of the 30% Club Malaysia Chapter, supporting efforts to promote gender diversity on public company boards.
