Christopher Phong is currently the Group Head of Investment & Asset Management at Shangri-La Asia Limited, with responsibilities for the strategic execution of new developments and investments as well as asset management and enhancement initiatives.  He also oversees the overall business operations and financial performances of the SHMB Group hotels in Malaysia, with a focus on ensuring that the hotel properties maintain their competitive positions in their individual markets and are well-positioned for future growth.

He brings a wealth of business knowledge, strong international experience and deep functional expertise in finance, risk management, and new business and project development, particularly in the energy, environmental infrastructure and construction sectors.

Before joining the Shangri-La Group, he was with PT Adaro Power from 2015 to 2023, the Independent Power Producer Business Unit of PT Adaro Energy, a leading Indonesian-based energy group listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, where he held senior leadership roles and successfully managed many large-scale project developments.  Between 2011 and 2015, he spearheaded ESG-focused development projects in South East Asia and South Asia for InfraCo Asia Management Pte Ltd.  Prior to this, Mr Phong was the Managing Director of a consultancy services company for environmental and utilities projects in South East Asia.  He was also previously the Director of Business & Commercial at Keppel Seghers Group which is the Infrastructure Business Unit of Keppel Group, a multinational conglomerate listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, where he was principally responsible for environmental infrastructure development globally.
